A let-down!
The was a balloon family, Mummy Balloon, Daddy Balloon and Baby Balloon.
Baby Balloon used to sleep between his parents, Mummy and Daddy, but as he got older
they tried to discourage this, and finally insisted that he should sleep in his own
bed.
But late one night, he was scared and couldn’t sleep, so he went to their bedroom.
They were fast asleep, and he tried to get in bed between them.
Unfortunately, he was now fatter than before, so he couldn't get in.
So he quietly released a little air from Daddy Balloon.
But he still couldn't get in, so he did the same with Mummy Balloon.
He still couldn't get in, so he let a little air out of himself.
When his parents woke up in the morning and found he was in bed with them they were
very angry!
His father told him off::
“You let me down! You let your mother down! And you even let yourself down!
- Let someone down means to disappoint them. It also, of course, means to deflate a
balloon.
